History

13th/14th Century

An old record notes that the lord of Ringgenberg spent more time at the mill down by the lake, i.e. with the beautiful miller's daughter, than up at his castle. From this one could conclude that there already was a mill there in the 13th or 14th century. It is, however, difficult to specify an exact construction date for such a building.

1826

The wooden mill was demolished by the brothers Melchior, Matthäus and Johannes Grossmann and the ‘new mill’ was built on the same site in solid stone.

1880

Gottfried Käser, master miller, purchased the mill.

1888

The mill was shut down and the building was converted into an inn.

1904/05

Converted into Hotel Seeburg.

1911

The hotel passed to Christian Michel-Käser, the son in law.

1948

After the death of Christian Michel, his son Fritz took over.

1971

His son Peter Michel sr. took over.

1990

The entire building’s shell was renovated and the roof renewed.

2005

His son Peter Michel jr. took over.
